This article is written based on my knowledge collected through the readings from the articles on the internet, which are regarding the methods of making business using the internet. I was called to write about it, and I consider this as a free-sharing because I was shocked and regret for some of the workshops organized by a few parties recently which are focused on "Starting Business on the Internet", which are charged for a high pay to tell what I am willing to share with you as a freebie.

I am truly hoping that, by using this approach, most of people would not be exploited with the workshops that tell you the things/information/knowledge that you can gain from the internet without any pay, which is FREE.

This group of article will reveal every method for the simple marketing on the internet without the need to ATTEND FOR THE WORKSHOPS THAT CONSUME YOUR MONEY FOR HUNDREDS RINGGIT JUST TO EXPLAIN how to start your business on the internet, the marketing methods and other related information . What is explained here is totally the same as the information you gained from the high-cost workshops. I'm claiming that because I know about it after I have attended more than 5 similar workshops.

 THE NEED TO HAVE A BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET

Do you believe that most of the entrepreneurs could generate 200% income of the sales after they have their own business website on the internet?

Do you believe that Internet is the FIRST medium to generate profitable business?

First Lesson:
I have a friend, who opens a business for house-gate-making and everything related to the security grills and so on. His business was not doing very well even though he was the only one who owned and offered such business and services in his area. He also spend a lot of money for printed advertising through newspaper, unfortunately the business was still discouraging, and getting less responses from the customers.

Right after he developed a business website, and advertised it on the Internet and also newspaper-written together the URL for his website, just like his wish was granted to get a better income for his business. The customers increased faster, and they came unlimitedly to get the service. That would be a proof on how a business with the website could give you better impression for your business & of course your income.

Second Lesson:
My friend was a novelist in a famous publishing company in KarangKraf. Before this, the sale for his novel was slower. During the first printing, it took a long time to be sold out.

After she had promoted his novel on the Internet, now he can smile heartedly because people are rushing for his novel. Not even the newly published novels, but also the previous ones, people are still looking for them to buy.

Just take a lesson from 2 stories written above, we can see the impact of having business on the Internet. It would be very profitable & advantageous.

 THE FAILURE OF THE BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET

Before I start explaining how to develop business website on the Internet, let me explain why we always find failure in making internet business.

1. We Know, But We Don't Act

Can you solve my riddle?

There are 10 chicks that are being seen by a few eagles on the sky. 8 of those realize that they are seen by the eagles, and within anytime the eagles could catch them. Thus, the chicks wish to hide somewhere from becoming the prey of the eagles. The eagles somehow fly to the group of chicks and catch them. How many of them are safe?

The answer would be none of them are safe even though the 8 chicks WISH to hide. This is because the chicks have just wished to hide, meaning that they are just planning. But they haven't done the ACTION of hiding yet, it is just the PLAN.

What the story above relates you?

You are wishing to start doing your business on the Internet, but you haven't set the ACTION. You just set the WISH.

The successful people are those who set actions after the plans, and they made it not only by day-dreaming. This is one of the points why people always fail to setup their business on the Internet. THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND THOSE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS THE ONLY POINT. BELIEVE IT. They act and apply everything the learnt from their readings & experience into their real life. It is not because of our marketing methods are wrong or whatsoever.

You wish to start your business, but you do not act for it, just like starting to learn how to realize the wish. You do not try to learn any simple business methods from the Internet (which is in English Language of Course) that explain the secrets of the Internet business. You do not set the starting point to learn how to start doing business just by reading those useful & informational articles. Of course, it is clear here that you do not need to attend any workshops to know how to have business on the Internet because those successful people, most of them just read the books and articles from the Internet, and right after that they set-up the action point.

** Please do not think that the web development task is a hurdle for you. I will tell give you the solution at the end of these articles later.

Actually I just put the number for every single failure causal for the Internet Business. Obviously, it does not need to be numbered, because it is only one MAIN REASON. This is because I want to show to everyone; that is THE ONLY MAIN REASON OF FAILURE for us to start the business on the Internet.

Just imagine this chronology.

You are walking inside a shopping mall; there are a lot of shops that sell any kind of goods. As a visitor, and of course a buyer, you will be walking inside the mall to find for the items you are looking for. Once in a while you might see other item that attracts you. You might be buying it because you like it, although you are not planning to get it at first.

On the Internet, a website is just the same as a shopping mall that you always go for shopping, as I explained above. Inside of the mall there are a lot of shops selling various kind of product that are needed by every visitor.

The visitors on the Internet do not have to waste a lot of energy to walk here and there looking for the items they want. They just need to sit down on the comfort chair at their own place, and click here and there to see whatever items they are interested for. They can ask in details from the enquiry/contact form provided inside the website.

You can also advertise other people's products inside your website on the Internet by charging them the fees to place the advertisements. You can place it anywhere you like.

Your business will be competing with any of the famous and well-known companies on the Internet, putting your business at the same level with them. The most important key is the PROMOTION. Who are at their best promotion, he will maximize the profit. Promotion on the Internet is not a big deal. Just place your product images, and that would also be a promotion. It's just that easy, right?

Unlimited Time Boundary
Making business on the Internet means you are OPENING YOUR OWN SHOPPING MALL COMPLEX WITHIN 24 HOURS PER DAY, 7 DAYS PER WEEK AND 365 DAYS PER YEAR, NON-STOP without any additional cost.

Unlimited Business Access & Networks
On the Internet, access & networks to your business are unlimited. You can connect as many networks/links as you like with other businesses, which the thing is easily done by providing links to other business on your webpage. You do not need to ask for authorization first, because on the Internet, links are considered as global, they can be accessed and used by anyone. You could take this opportunity as an advantage by creating your own business community without having any restrictions by the bigger & better businesses.

Giving Out Better Business Information
Using the website, you can gibe information about your business and products better and more detailed to public. You can always add any information anytime, anywhere you are. You can explain as much and in details about the information and useful knowledge of your products. The interesting part is, you can use any audio or video format to explain it better. 2 TYPES OF BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET

Basically there are 2 main types of the business on the Internet:

  • A kind of business which the main focus point is only to attract and gain prospects, whereas none of online transaction of purchasing is made and done.
  • A kind of e-commerce business, which consists of online purchasing, advertising and Affiliation program.

The Fist Type
It is known as the business to project your own prospects, whereby it could increase the customers' confidence towards yourself, and you could boost the company's credibility by introducing your company and the products & services you're providing.

The website is just developed to become an easier place where people can meet to discuss about their business, which is planned at first and then the purchasing deal is done.

Example: Housing Agents, Property Consultants, Rental-Housing Agents, Real Estate Agents, and etc.

The Second Type
It is known as a business to generate your income on the internet by selling products online. The customers will place their orders and purchase your business products directly by using the services provided on the Internet.

The kinds of businesses also include the workshops that teach & show you truly about starting the business on the Internet as practical in whole . (It is not just talking in front, becoming a speaker while you as the audiences, who go there to aim some useful learning, are not given and provided a PC for each, as a tool to apply and practice for what is being explained in front)

The service to develop the website is grouped inside this type. Advertising and Affiliation Program are also included in this second type. The most profitable business is this second type of internet business. I would explain more in details.

Selling Products and/or Services Online
This kind of business could provide you a great profit. This is the main profit which is generated from the business on the Internet. You can find a product that having minimal cost of shipping but returns you a higher profit. The most effective solution is by selling the e-books. You could also sell the website templates or screen savers. You could also accept offers to develop websites and other things related to it.

Sitting down on the chair, swinging your legs, those would not make money for you even a penny. That was what people say in the previous decades. You MUST write the articles on yourselves preferably in English Language because Google only verifies applications in the supported languages. REMINDER: COPYING OTHER PEOPLE'S ARTICLES ON THE INTERNET WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE OWNER IS A SERIOUS OFFENSE WHICH YOU COULD BE HELD LIABLE. If you cannot write well in English, you could find a translator for the articles to be translated into English.

You can develop a lot of articles like I what I am doing now. Then you can start applying for Google Adsense at http://www.google.com/adsense . After being verified by Google, you can place Google advertisement code anywhere you wish to inside your website.

EVERY CLICK RECEIVED IS MONEY FOR YOU. That's so easy, right?

Affiliation Program
There are a lot of affiliation programs on the Internet that can bring you money. You can surf http://www.refer-it.com . You can get the affiliations as many as possible which are suitable for the categories of your business website. You would be paid the stipulated commission when any product is sold. The Affiliation Program will appoint you to become a marketing agent. Whereby you would be paid commission based on the profits for the items sold. You could just swing your legs.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT BUSINESS

Another main problem than not having any experience or knowledge about developing business website on the Internet would be determining the right goods and/or services to be marketed. Sometimes you become stuck in the middle thinking about this matter. The question always arises in your mind about the right items to be chosen for your business on the Internet.

You must do business based on the aspects listed below.

Interests
A successful internet business is something done based on your interests. Still can't catch this up? You can sell your interests to public and you would be making money and profits, having success for the business. Still you can't understand.?

A business that is done based on interests would not make you boring about it. You would not feel stressful because you are selling the things that you are interested for.

Just take myself an example to explain here. I am interested in teaching, writing and developing websites, and developing web templates. Thus, my business is about doing the workshops for business website development in 1 day. That business arises because of my interests in teaching, developing website and web-templates. I am happily doing it, even though I would not be making any customers, I would keep on developing websites at home because I still could get orders from customers to develop the websites and web-templates, and I am not boring with all these because I am very interested towards them - my interests is there.

When you are having any business that is based on your interests, you're actually can commercialize it easily. This is because you might know the cycles & tricks of the things you are interested for. Implicitly, you will know a little bit about the business that you're going to start.

If your interest is on writing, you can make it as a business. You can write as many interesting stories and then compile them to become e-books, and you can start market them inside your internet business. If it does not bring any profit for you, you would still be happy for it because writing is one of your interests. Does that sound interesting?

Ability & Talent
Ability and interest are close terms for each other, they represents something that relates to us. I have ability in developing every single kind of website. Thus my business is focusing on my ability and interest. With the business build based on your ability, you are actually on your way doing it easier. You are having the ability with what you are commercializing.

The other example would be, if you like the personal accessories. That would not be a problem for you to promote & sell products of personal accessories because you are interested for it and surely you have the ability to explain about the products without having the need to learn about it.

The strength, knowledge and taste would be grouped into 2 most important things to choose what kind of product that you want to sell through the internet.

OPTIMIZING THE CHOICE OF BUSINESS PRODUCTS

There is a little difference between the business on the Internet and outside of the Internet in terms of the business optimality. On the Internet, the more choice of products, the better it is. A simple example is the grocery.

But that doesn't happen on the Internet. On the Internet, you are advised to focus to one or two items only. This would make your business more optimized. Giving too much choice for your customers would make them not interested for your products. This is because; too many products would make your customers become confused to choose the items.

I suggest that your focus is on one product, but it is unique, which can't be gotten easily by the public. To make it becomes unique; you have to think yourself because you are the specialist to make it called as unique. You are the one who knows about the products to be sold based on your interest, ability & talent.

Give focus on the marketing for that item. What are the advantages of having fewer products?

  1. Easier for the products promotion
  2. Focus the prospects' choice to the products you are commercializing
  3. Easier for you to explain better to your customer
  4. Easier to call it as unique because you are just thinking for one item only

TURNING YOUR PRODUCTS AS UNIQUE

Do a little analysis. Take a piece of paper and list down 3 things that attract you the most. Think of something that relates to your interests is a product of yours.

Example:

  1. if you like reading, then books are the product of yours
  2. if you care most about your complexion and personal appearance, maybe the make-ups accessories would be your interest.

Write down the ability that you have & can gain from your interest. Examples for the abilities that may come from your interest are:

  1. Writing
  2. You could use any make-up brands to make your appearance and complexion look better.

Think of some unique things that you could do with both of the interest and ability that you have:

  1. Writing resume, writing letter for job application and etc.
  2. Make-up according to season, weather and so-forth

Thus the shape of your business is more organized and focused, and then it becomes unique. Your business would be related to:

  1. Selling e-books, letters of job application and so on, which are suitable to be used for Malaysian
  2. Providing services for the latest & modern bridal make-ups & styles, explaining the advantages for each brand of make-up.

STEPS TO START BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET

There are 4 basic steps to start your Internet Business

  1. Determine and define the product
  2. Develop your own business website
  3. Plan & define the payment methods
  4. Product Promotional and advertising

Determine and Define the Product
There are a few categories of product to be commercialized on the Internet.

1. Services-based product
- Taking orders to design logo, website, giving consultation, motivation and so on.
- The main capital is only you & yourself and the interest
- It is highly profitable, and the customers keep on coming and sometimes they are repeated
- But it needs a longer time to do it

2. Goods-based Product
- Selling cookies/cakes, car accessories, books, souvenirs and etc
- Needs a good capital to buy as bundled or to become an agent
- Requires shipping cost
- Less profitable but it is not time-limited

3. The ideal product
- Selling product as download
- Products example: E-books, screensaver, template
- Less cost because no shipping is required, everything is done by downloading
- Cost needed only for selling it online
- Global application and access
- Effective purchasing on the Internet compared to outside of it
- Repeated, continuous buyers

How to make my services-based product as ideal?
- Write book and publish it as an e-book
- Publish in the VCD format, Video or Internet format so it is only downloadable
- Just bear in mind that there ate a lot of books in various fields that are not yet published. You could make it by writing much on the scope of "How To" and "Do it Yourself" (DIY).

E-books Advantages
- Can be written and published in any scope and filed. Write based on your interest. Make it more into How To scope.
- Example: teaching the cooking recipes with the photos of the cooking methods. You can also slip together with the video and audio format.
- At anytime you can transform the electronic format into a printed material. You could make it as a regular printed book by printing it, and you can start to sell it.

Developing the Business Website
There are 2 methods to develop a website:

  1. Pay someone to develop it for you
  2. Develop it by your own

Paying Someone for the Website Development
•  The cost is very expensive
•  The knowledge is not continuous, meaning here that you would not know the inner functions of your website, and that would be very hard because every time you wish to upgrade and update your website, you need to pay for it.

Developing it By Your Own
•  Do you still think that it would take time? Oh, that would be a No actually. You can use any existing templates for easier design.
•  You can attend the workshops for the website design and development that charge you reasonable fees, but in return you would get much information and knowledge. Just spend the cost for once to learn about it. Later, you won't need to pay anymore to update & upgrade your website because you have known how to do it by yourself.

Guides to Choose the Right Workshop for the Website Development
•  A spokesperson that is having background in the education field. This is important because anyone in the education field is taught with the effective teaching & learning courses.
•  An organizer that handles website development workshops regularly
•  A workshop with the real-time hands on approach, whereby you can apply directly whatever is being taught in-front during the workshop. (you would not have to wait until you come home to try and apply for it, by that time you might have forgotten some of the useful information)

Planning & Define the Payment Methods

  1. Online payment using Maybank2u or BCB e-Bank
  2. Credit Card Payment
  3. Payment using cheque

Online Payment Using Maybank2u or BCB e-Bank
- This payment method is suitable for the items sold below RM100. Somehow you can use this method for any value of money. It's just that it is limited, because not everyone has these bank accounts.

Credit Card Payment
- You can open a Merchant Account at CCNow.com, Worldpay.com or PlanetPayment. It would be a little bit expensive but it is good for items that cost more than RM100.

Payment using cheque
This type of payment is suitable for the items sold below RM50. Somehow it also has the limit, because not everyone has the cheque-book.

Product Promotional and advertising
There are various ways that you can apply for promotion. I will explain later, how to do the effective promotion. See you tomorrow.
